Theater at Sybaris Archaeological site

This is the site of the ancient Greek town of Sybaris in southern Italy. The town is the source of the word sybaritic meaning self-indulgent. It was founded about 720 BC and destroyed around 400 BC. The excavation has unearthed some of the ruins built over the original town but little of Sybaris

The site appears to be unprotected and nothing seems to be going on. We walked in through an open gate and there was no one else around. There were surveillance cameras and we wondered if we would be arrested for trespassing. They may have run out of money
